There are 3 main reasons why 98% of fat loss diet plans are destined to fail.
1) The first reason why 98% of fat loss diet plans fail is that while times have changed, our bodies still function the way they did centuries ago.
Centuries ago, reliable food sources were unavailable, and hence, our bodies are still designed for hunting and gathering and for times when there was scarcity of food. During those times, there was no such thing as a drive-thru, where you could stop for a quick snack, and no refrigerators filled with food, 10 feet away.
Their only choices were either working very hard to find food or eating no food at all. There were times when they were forced to survive on minimal or no nutrition.
They adapted by slowing down the metabolism and storing more calories as fat when food was plentiful, so that they would have a back up energy source when meals were infrequent.
While most of us living in the developed world no longer need this survival mechanism, it still remains.
What this means is that when we take up a diet that calls for restricting our calories, this old survival mechanism kicks into gear and prevents you from getting results.
This approach will make your metabolism sluggish; you will burn less fat and, at the same time, store more of it. Even worse, you waste away much of your lean muscle tissue.
2) 98% of fat loss diet plans increase our hunger pangs, which is what makes them fail.
(Not to mention that you'll be thinking about food non-stop)
Do you think you could maintain this state for long period of time?
Of course not, and until you begin eating regularly again, the stabbing hunger pains from these fat loss diet plans will be constant.
I don't personally know of anyone who can maintain that permanently, and I would guess that 99% or more of the population can't either.
How can you expect to lose weight and keep it off when you're on fat loss diet plans that just don't work and are impossible to maintain?
You CAN'T!
3) 98% of fat loss diet plans fail because reasons 1 and 2 work together to make your goal unattainable.
Once you stop following these low-calorie fat loss diet plans, you will be in for a rather unpleasant surprise.
Your fat loss diet has trained your body to store more fat instead of burning it. Eventually, when you resume your normal diet, you will end up piling on more pounds than before. (This is what they call "yo-yo dieting"!)
What's worse, if you lost any weight when you were on such fat loss diet plans, most of it was simply retained water and lean muscle mass.
You might have reduced the number on the scale, but you didn't actually lose any body fat.
With all of these factors working against traditional fat loss diet plans, it is no wonder that 98% of them fail.
